1205 Q.(cont.) yourself? A. I think this is about it, if I knew this was my last rational day, knowing what i do of that institution, I should instruct my wife to carry me there immediately, because I should be satisfied I could be taken better care of there than at home. Q. Do you not know that the St. John hospital has recently been investigated and some very great cruelties have been developed there? A. I do not Q. When you left the committee on the hospital had you any suspicion of any such abuses as have been testified to here, of there being choked etc? I never saw anything to give one such suspicions. Q. From your experience and observation there, what is yu opinion as to putting a female physician there? A. In as far as having the professional information necessary to judge I am not competent; from my own standpoint I should say it would not be advantageous to the institution. By Mr. Baker Q. The trustees were under no obligation to act on the recommendation of the visiting committee unless they thought that was the proper course? A. I so understand it. Q. Have you had occasion to visit the lodges often?
