A message was received from the Senate by their Secretary informing the House that the Senate have appointed Mr Porter to fill the several vacancies on the Joint Standing Committees by the death of Mr Pike

On motion of Mr Robinson of Augusta Ordered, that Messrs Robinson of Augusta, Fernald of Saco, and Cole of Greenwood be a Committee to enquire into the expediency of enacting a law making it a duty of the Selectmen of Towns and the Assessors of Plantations to enforce the laws relating to the sale of ardent Spirits, with leave to report by bill or otherwise.
