� An officer was drowned 55 Sep 18th It is still raining. We fell in to go on the railroad building codray, but it is to wet. One of the 8d PA cavelry officers was drowned near here today. He was going to the station to take the ease for home having a furlow in his pac-ket. His horse had to ford a small creek that was flooded by the recent rains so that the bank was under water, and the horse missed the track and when he came to the bank of the little brook which was some two or three feet above the bed, fell and pitched the man over his head and tramped him under water untill he was dead. 19th We went to finish our detale and got done before night. 20th An inspection in the morning. Hiram Baker was here from the 7th Maine regt. A man was drown-ed clearing away drift stuff from the railroad bridge 21st The sky indicate a snow storm
