We marched this morning for Hanover Penselvania and arived there at 4 o'clock Grate inthuseismi prevailed when we crossed the state line. We lay at Hanover two hours then started for Gettysburg in the evening and marched until twelve oclock at night and cam- ped within three miles of the town. 2d We go up earley and had an inspec- -tion of arms and marched about two miles and halted in an orchard. Some firing all day. I saw John Wescot. and Henry Kallach while laying here. About 4 o'clock the battle was raging fearfully when all at once the command rang out. Fall in 20th. By the right flank, forward march. We marched like horses until we reached the left of our line of battle.
