On motion of Mr Rowell of Jefferson,

   Ordered that the joint standing Committee on the Judiciary be requested to take into consideration the expediency of repealing the ninth section of the law entitled an act to establish the Damariscotta Canal passed March 10th 1821 with leave to report ect.  - read passed. An order came from the Senate for concurrence, directing the committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of providing by law that the widows of testators who waive the provisions made for them in the wills of their deceased husbands, & claim dower may nevertheless be entitled to their apparel and such other, and so much of the personal estate of their deceased husbands as the Judge of Probate shall determine necessary according to their quality and degrees - and also to inquire into the expediency of authorizing the Judges of Probate in their respective Counties to grant license for the sale of the real estate of minor heirs, when
