106 which authorizes the Sheriffs of the several Counties to receive pay out of the Treasury of the State for returning the Certificates of votes of the several towns for a Governor & Senators to the Secretary's office, that duty being now imposed on the Clerks of the towns & plantations in this State, by the Constitution and the Statute - also to inquire into the expediency of repealing so much of the same section of said act as allows the Sheriff eight cents each for distributing Proclamations - and the House concurred.

Bill - additional act relating to the Inspection of Mackerel, was read 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3rd reading.

Bill - additional act respecting Ferry Point Bridge, was read a 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3rd reading.

Bill - to incorporate the Penobscot Steam Boat navigation, was read a 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3rd reading. -

Report on the petition of Samuel Chesley & others, granting leave to withdraw, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence and the House concurred.

The committee on engrossed bills reported as duly engrossed Bill - to incorporate the town of Abbot - - to incorporate the town of Liberty - which were severally passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence.

The same committee reported as duly engrossed, Resolve - in favor of Elijah Butler Junior - which was finally passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Resolve establishing the seat of Government, was again taken up and the motion in order was "Shall the blank be filled with the word "thirty five[underlined]" and the motion prevailed pro. 67, con. 66. Mr Carpenter then moved to strike out the words "Augusta[underlined]
