A. Yes sir
Q. Who has charge of the letter boxes in which the patients have the privilege of depositing any communication they want to make?
A. The visiting committee of the council; I understand that no officer of the institution has a key to those; it is the law that they shall not have.
Q. Who personally attend to that?
A. I have attended to it more generally that C.I. Redick when I have been there.
Q. You have a key and take out the letters?
A. Yes sir
Q. What do you do with them?
A. Mail them, frequently find some directed to the committee; those we read, those that are directed we mail. Mrs. Whidden may have tended the boxes as well as myself.
Q. The object of that is that the patients may have a medium of communication with the outside world.?
A. Yes, I have frequently asked the patients with regard to that , if they were supplied with writing materials, they have said they were
