Wednesday. January 18, 1837.
A communication was received from Henry Hobbs, Councilor elect, signifying his acceptance and readiness to take and subscribe the necessary oaths - read and sent down.
On motion of Mr Benson,
Ordered, that a message be sent to the House of Representatives, proposing a Convention of both branches of the Legislature, forthwith, in the Representatives Hall for the purpose of administering the oaths of office to Henry Hobbs, Councilor elect - which message was delivered by the Secretary.
A message was received from the House of Representatives, that that Body had concurred in the foregoing proposition.
In Convention
The town Houses, according to proposition, met in Convention for the purpose of qualifying Henry Hobbs, Councilor elect.
Mr Holmes of Alfred of the House, was charged with a message, informing Henry Hobbs, Councilor elect, that the two Houses have net in Convention and are ready to administer to him the necessary oaths -
Whereupon, Henry Hobbs came in, and before the President of the Convention, and in presence of both Houses of the Legislature, took
