I have your letter, shock as it is.  Funny, you can see those scamps, perhaps too many together, certainly too many names pitched at them at once; drunk or not; not worshipping Vatromih [?] remarkably - but it is absurd.  The only way is to do it quietly, one name at a time & no hurry, & the right time for it.  I did get something out of Teresa & Nicolar by living at St-Leger [?] 6 or 8 weeks with them but the other way is the thing.

-peag questions [two in left margin]  My -peas was only a shot, & the run of ? ? I sent you was only a flush [?] in the hang-over after our spree.

I have organized what I brought off, put the Hist. Soc. stuff into Eng. or French Indian, about 350 titles & the Indian words, into Eng. or Fr. make 485 titles.  A useful lot, & with the scrapings from Penob. & Passam. I sent you make quite a bunch of name help.  Now I don't think your best happiness goes with drudging
