thereupon appear that a majority of the votes given in are in favor of removal, the Legislature shall make the necessary provisions [?] for the accommodation of the Legislature, and Executive Officers at Portland, at the expense of the State; and the then next ensuing Legislature is to be convened there for the transaction o business, as the time prescribed by the Constitution and the question of adopting said amendment being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays was decided in the negative, as follows, to wit:

Nays. Messrs. Burr, Greene, Ham, Littlefield, Mildram, J.R. Redman, J. Redman, Soule, Strickland, Swift, Talbot, Woodbury and Woodman --------- 13.

Mr Maqoun, further moved to amend by striking out the words "free of expense to the State," in the 24th line in the first Section and insert in lieu thereof the words, at the expense of the State, and the question of adopting said amendment was decided in the negative as follows, to wit;
