Sir,
At our Term of the Court of Com. Pleas held at Machias [?] five days ago, we saw the necessity of having our Court of Sessions have a consultation on this subject and by reason of there being some [a --?y} contending [?} interests in our County, tho't best to advise the appointment these more Justices of the Sessions for said County, (presuming Lem l Trescott to have resigned) and agreed to recommend Moses Fuller of Lubec, Joseph Whitney of Calais, and Peter Talbot of Machias as [ ? ed] best calculated to give satisfaction to the different Sections of the County & Justice [Boltam?] to be chief Justice, There will then be three Republicans Tho s Ruggles who is well disposed toward the Government (and I think a Republican) and one Federalist, ( Mr.? Talbot) but if you should think best not to appointment these, Moses Fuller will best fail [?], Mr. Trescotts [ ? }, and as the
