Report of the Warden of the State Prison was received and the same, on motion of Mr Manning was laid upon the table and ordered that 500 copies of said Report be printed for the use of the Legislature.
A message was received from the House of Representatives informing the Senate, that the House had reconsidered its vote passing to be engrossed the Bill for the removal of the Seat of Government from Augusta to Portland - had taken the same in a new draft, entitled, An Act, providing for the removal of the seat of Government from Augusta to Portland, and had passed said new draft to be engrossed, and requested the concurrence of the Senate.
The Senate reconsidered their vote passing said Bill to be engrossed and adopt the new draft, proposed by the House, and the same was read twice. Mr Smith moved the indefinite postponement of the Bill (the new draft) and the question of indefinite postponement being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the negative a follows, to wit: Yeas Messrs. Benson, Carr, Maqoun, Edward, Robinson, Elijah Robinson, Severance, Smith, Staples, Strickland and Whitney 10. Nays. Messrs. Burr, Greene, Ham, Higgins, Littlefield, Manning, Mildram, J.R. Redman, T.
