Friday, February 3d 1837.
On motion of Mr. Burr Ordered, that Messrs. Burr, Edward Robinson and Mildram be a Committee with such as the House may join, to take into consideration the expediency of prohibiting all Banking Corporation, receiving their Charters from discharge from establishing Agencies on entering into an alliance with any undivided or individuals. Banks or Banks, for the purpose of redeeming [?] there Bills in another State, or by which they agree to pay tribute to any foreign alliance for permission to exercise the privileges granted them by their Charters - read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Came up concurred and Messrs. Gower of Shapleigh, Lyman of Portland, Brooks of York, Sewall of Bath, Coney of Augusta, Campbell of Greenbush, and Foster of Cherryfield are joined.
Petition of D. Winslow and others, praying be incorporated by the name of the "Builders Granite Association" - read and referred to the Committee on Manufactures. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
Petition of Solomon Dennison and others, praying for a Charter for a Canal from Lewiston Falls to Freeport - read and referred to the Committee on Rail Roads and Canals. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
