Tuesday, February 7, 1837.
Order from the House of Representatives, appointing Messrs. Hodgkins of Lewiston, Foster of Pembroke, Cook of Waterboro, Burbank of Gilead, Dunlap of Brunswick, Smart of Plymouth and Cram of New Sharon a Committee with such as the Senate may join, to take into consideration the propriety of erecting a suitable monument over the remains of Enoch Lincoln, late Governor of Maine, in memory of his distinguished services to this State - read and passed and Messrs. Severance, Soule and Edward Robinson are joined in concurrence.
Order from the House of Representatives, appointing Messrs. Holmes of Alfred, Paris of Buckfield, Wells of Hallowell, Johnson of Belfast and Fletcher of Thomaston a Committee, with such as the Senate may join to inquire into the expediency of altering the Rules and Orders, especially in regard to new drafts and amendments - read and passed and Messrs. Benson, Woodman and Swift were joined, in concurrence.
The following orders, from the House of Representatives, were read and passed in concurrence, to wit; Instructing the Committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of so amending the law concerning Corporations, as to provide that the Clerk of each Corporation shall reside in the town where it is established, and shall give public notice of his
