Q. Do you know what wages they pay attendants? A. Used to pay all the way from $20 to $40 a month, perhaps there could be some classification of attendants and raise the pay the longer they stay there, I do not know that it is desirable to keep one always. Q. Did you have occasion to examine the book account of Mr.Leighton the former treasurer? A. I did, there was not a defalcation, but there were some irregularities which not ought to have been. They were building there and at a certain time they wanted to pay a bill of about $600 and there were no funds appropriated for that purpose, and Mr. Leighton let to that the department that amount and it was not paid for a long time.
