1196 A.(cont.) promised me he would thoroughly investigate the matter and I think in every instance I was satisfied that he did so. My memory is that one attendant was dismissed either on my recommendation on that or that of Mrs.( Mr.) Quimly during that year. Q. DId you find any occasion to speak to the superintendent of any inattention in the second year? A. I do not recollect that I did. I thought the class of attendants was improving during the second year, thought they were about up to the standard that I would expect them to be. Q. From the time you first went in no one of the visiting committee through the four years you served in both capacities, comparing the end with the beginning did you find the attendants had improved? A. I felt that there had been a great improvement in the matter of attendants. I think as a rule they were as faithful to their duties as that number of individuals, selected by a private individual for his business would be found. Q. When you first became one of the visiting committee had they introduced the various sorts of amusements which are there now? A. There have been some additions made, have progressed in that respect.
