1197 Q. You regard those things as benefit to the institution? A. Very much Q. Did you have occasion to the diet during your four years of service in the two capacites? A. Very frequently. I never saw any reason to complain of it in any way. The food was always of good quality so far as I could perceive, and an abundance of it. I was there on one occasion when my attention was called to some bad meat under peculiar circumstances, I was not thoroughly satisfied whether it was bad or not. It was corned beef and in June. I presume it was questionable that it was the same as I have had in my family got there by mistake, it was warm, just cooked. With that exception I never observed any difficulty. Q. Did you ever examine the rooms, bed and bedding of the patients? A. A great deal, found that as good as I could expect. Q. Do you know whether new beds have been put in from time to time? A. Very frequently
