1216 A. (cont.) are well treated and kept in as good condition as could be expected from people in their condition; some of them are violent and it is difficult to keep clothing on them, but I have always found them in comfortable places and with more or less clothing on them. Q. As a practical business man, do you think it is possible to manage a community of four or five hundred people, the great bulk of them whom are insane, without having a jar or disturbance of any kind? A. I should think it would be very difficult. It has been remarkable to me that they keep things in as good condition as I find it. Q. What is your connection on the whole, as to the management of the asylum, as it has been during the last 14 months? A. I think it is well managed. I have not spent a great deal of time there, but I have been over and stopped three or four hours every time and have been through all the wards and lodges. Q.
