I have Firm ly believed for Some years that it would be for Intent of Maine to be a Separate Government. I have not seen any thing to [ ] my opinion but my belief is [ ] that if but it should be so---in this Belief I am opposed by the Absence of this Town--this was [ ] opposed to separation James Bailey [ ] and myself are the only advocates for it in Columbia in the [ ] of nominations I sent you, I omitted Jeb.
